Sky and Water
Helicopters buzzed, lambs put a skip in my step, birds sang.
Enjoy, enjoy, they cheeped.
I skirted winter wheat and rapeseed, followed rivers through sanitised terrain, and encountered one bee, one rabbit, scarcely a spring flower and no other walker.
But a rusty footbridge cheered me; the broad, cloudy sky and running water too, until, admiring one, I slid into the other.
