Hardy’s Well
Walking through a field in England,
or what would have been,
before the motorways, tramlines and
suburban development.
Withington, Northenden, Didsbury,
Fallowfield, Rusholme.
A Unitarian Chapel from 1700
faces the 1960’s ‘Toast Rack’.
Blanck Mass to Lemn Sissay,
we transect place and time.
W-X, walking into a hex,
wilting in the spring sunshine
and wishing for words.
But Hardy’s Well is dry.

Wow – What a find on your walk from W to X – absolutely transects place and time and might help save this poetic landmark!
