You have an oversized package

It won’t fit through your letterbox ribs
Shall we try again another day?
Or can we leave it outside here:
Beating
Boldly
Like a bare bird perching
Roundly
Like a wet red pudding
Loudly
Like a soft cloth clock
Here
On the harsh mat
Where strangers tread
And free fliers fall
Until it stills
And shrinks—
A regular sized package at last—

Oh! I love this piece of poetry, I enjoy the depth, the metaphor, the musicality and rhythm produced by these lines: like a bare bird perching…like a wet red pudding…like soft cloth clocking…and free fliers fall.
Just sweet!! My passion for poetry is whetted!
